Over 22 Villages Totally Destroyed

According to The Irrawaddy, a news vehicle that covers Burma and Southeast Asia reported Local sources in Laputta Township, a township of 200,000 located in the hard hit southwestern portion of the delta state the local conditions are horrible. The source states, “I think 95 percent of Laputta Township was destroyed. I can confirm that 22 villages were totally destroyed.” Another resident said, “…All the wells have been flooded, so there is no water to drink. Some died after they were bitten by snakes that were washed up in the floods.”

No aid from either the Burmese government or non-governmental organizations has reached Laputta Township to date.
